Great! I'm going to Austin with a Bed & Breakfast meetup group. (DH will be camping with friends in New Braunfels so I'll be on my own and presumably will have the car, although I'm not 100% sure about that.)
I'll PM you and WW with the B&B group's schedule so you'll know what I'm up to.

Dune and WonderWoman, here's the update:
There are 6 of us from Houston coming up. Half of us are from the Houston No Kidding! chapter, so it will kind of be like a CF event.
We'll be staying at: Adams House
http://www.theadamshouse.com/
I should be there sometime on Friday afternoon 6/12 and leaving sometime on Sunday 6/14.
The head of our B&B group says the more the merrier. You and your spouses are welcome to join any of our activities. Or we can meet up on our own if you prefer!
One more thing: Sometime this weekend I hope to meet up with a member of my trivia team, who happens to be a male to female transsexual in transition. (S)he might be self-conscious about meeting others, but I figure you guys are open-minded about stuff like this, so she might be joining us, OR I might have to meet her on Friday or Saturday sometime on my own.
Here's our agenda for the weekend so far:
Friday night:
dinner at Mangia Pizza at 7PM,
and bat-watching at the bridge at sundown.
Personally I could skip dinner since I'm not a huge pizza fan, but I do enjoy seeing those bats! You are welcome to join us, or we could meet for dinner on our own.
Saturday:
10AM - paddle boat and canoeing, which may skip since I stink at stuff like that:
http://www.austincityguide.com/content/c...austin.asp
Although one of you mentioned you wanted to do this. Was it Dune? I will hang out as long as I don't have to paddle or row.
We are on our own for lunch, and there's a bunch of touristy stuff going on during the day which I've already done before, so I'm pretty much free from lunchtime through the whole afternoon.
Saturday night:
Dinner at Manuel's at 7PM (you are welcome to join us)
Maestro Improv Comedy at 10PM (you are welcome to join us)
Sunday morning:
We are going to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, not sure what time.
Anyway, that's the scoop. If you don't still have my cellphone number, PM me and I'll give it to you. I still have both of yours unless it changed.

Sounds groovy. I'd love to tag along to the comedy show on Saturday, and I imagine Jason will want to as well. Dinner and bat watching on Friday sound good too. FYI Mangia pizza isn't like regular pizza, it's Chicago style deep dish pizza, but I'd be happy to go wherever. Tell me what kind of food you'd like, and I can find the perfect place for it. (Trust me, the fat girl always knows the best places to eat. LOL) You're welcome to come over to our place to hang out and meet our menagerie, although I imagine it will still be a disaster area since we're moving in this weekend.
I still have your number, and mine hasn't changed.

WW, sounds great to all of the above. I don't mind going to Mangia if that's what everyone else wants to do, AND if it's good. But I'm open to other choices too. I like international food and good barbecue. Anything but chain restaurants! Sounds like we're doing Mexican on Saturday night, and one Mexican meal per weekend is enough for me.
I talked to my trivia teammate on the phone last night: she's really into the local music scene and mentioned going to hear some live music on Friday night after dinner and batwatching (she conveniently lives right near the B&B too) so that might be another fun thing to do on Friday night later. She said she'd check the listings on Thursday and let me know who's playing. She said her favorite Austin musicians are Carolyn Wonderland (whom I've seen) and a 14-year-old fiddle player named Ruby Jean(?).
I would love to see your new home and pets. Depending what time I get in on Friday (are you working all day)? Maybe Friday before dinner. Or Saturday - daytime. Or Sunday before/after wildflower center.

There's a good barbecue place downtown called Iron Works, we could go there on Friday. I am working on Friday, I get off at 5:30 and because the new place is so close to work, I'll be home by 5:45.

We are trying to work out the Friday night thing. We love the bats, and Chicago style pizza or barbecue sounds great!
06-04-2009, 05:54 PM
Cool! Pizza with the other folks sounds good, or barbecue with just us sounds good too!

I'm flexible, whichever you want to do is fine by me.

I'm thinking of sticking around Sunday evening for this:

Any interest?

I've always wanted to do that, but Sunday night would be bad for us this month as we both teach Monday. We are still up for Friday, however. Just let me know when/where to meet for dinner and we'll be there.

It's looking like Friday dinner and bat watching is all I'm going to be able to do. The move has taken far longer than expected, we're not done emptying out Jason's apartment and have only begun to move stuff out of my place, so we're going to be spending this next weekend lugging the rest of our crap across town. You're (and dune, too!) still welcome to drop by and meet the pets, but be forewarned - the house is a complete disaster area, most of the furniture is just haphazardly strewn about because we're focusing on getting all of our stuff in first and dealing with arranging it later. Seriously, our bed is in 24 pieces in the middle of the living room, and the couch is still out at my trailer, but the dining table and chairs are set up so there's at least a place to sit down and hang out.
Let me know what you want to do for dinner on Friday, whether it's Mangia with the rest of your group, bbq, or something else entirely. As long as it's inexpensive, I'm game.

If you don't hear from me, assume we're going to Mangia's. I will be riding up with Ayn and will see how she feels if I go off for barbecue with you guys. I don't want to hurt her feelings because she worked hard on the weekend agenda and a lot of people flaked on her. If she sounds upset, then let's just go to Mangia. I will call you guys from the road tomorrow.

Sounds good. If skipping out on the group dinner will cause problems or hurt feelings, then by all means we should go to Mangia with them. The last thing I want is to cause any problems.
FYI - the Republic of Texas Biker Rally is this weekend, so expect the roads to be clogged with bikes. I can already hear them rumbling down the highway as I write this. The rally's kick-off includes Robbie Knievel performing a jump in front of the capitol building on Friday evening, so downtown is going to be PACKED. As a result, I'm not sure how easily we'll be able to get to the bat watching area. The Robbie Knievel stunt is supposed to start at 5:30, but the bats won't come out until around 8:45, so perhaps the rally-goers will have headed off towards the fairgrounds by the time your group is gathering for the bat emergence.

Robbie Knievel? Thanks for the warning about the traffic. I wouldn't mind seeing the stunt, actually.

I'm excited! Just let me know what time. I'll be going in to work in just a bit, but I have my cell and should be able to talk unless I am in the pool.

It was great seeing Dune and WW and their DHs! My friend Ayn really enjoyed meeting all of you. The 6 of us went to dinner at a great restaurant, then headed over to WW's new home and met her animals. It was a nice relaxing evening with friends.
