Okay guyss......here it is......my YWCA painting (commission) is "finished". I would have preferred to spend about a week more on details (adjusting color, adjusting lights & darks, glazing etc) but I've run out of time. Of course it's probably not a bad thing that I've run out of time to work on it because I'm sure I would have probably overworked it if I had more time.

Very nice!! Congratulations - I'm sure they will love it!!

PrairieGirl

I love it! I'm also loving that it shows real women, and not just young thin good looking women. I take it the one at right is a founder? -- it looks like a modern take on a historic photo.

You did an awesome job. I am sure everyone will love it.
Very nice! You always do such an enviable job Smile
I'm still in awe of everything you do.
The expressions on their faces are amazing.
The one on the right is especially great, it doesn't look like a painting at all. It looks like you blew up her photo or something, it's so lifelike! Wonderful work!
I know you had very little to work with, and they wanted the building and these women just floating around the building somehow, so I can understand that wasn't the most creative of assignments. You gave them what they asked for and you did it beautifully! I hope they appreciate it!
Wonderful!!!
Your painting is beautiful. I'm sure that they will be pleased with the results.
That is a wonderful painting. The facial expressions are so life-like.
Just curious-oil paints??? What medium did you use?
Beautiful work!
I really like it. By the hair and clothing you can see how it is showing the leadership from the past (on the right) leading into the future and yet it doesn't take away from the past. Definitely a creative take on the project.
Very beautiful!
Thanks guys! It was a tough project for sure and I keep looking at the photos & seeing things I'd like to change, but eh.....they were happy with it.

Kirby: The photo I had for the woman on the right was VERY poor. I could bairly see most of the detail so I just had to paint shapes that I thought I saw. I was pleased with how it turned out.

Koi: Yes, it was done in oil, but I had to use a LOT of painting medium so I could get it to dry in time. It's hard to paint with sticky paint. Ick.

Here is a photo after the presentation:

NOW I need to get caught up on my other projects because next week is the final week of classes & I'm VERY behind!!! YIKES!
Wow! You are so incredibly talented! I am so envious of your talent! It makes me wish I hadn't stopped drawing and painting in college.
Do it!!!! I didn't do much at all until I started back in school two years ago (my training before now was pretty minimal)!! If I can pretty much start out at 38 then anyone can!!
Amazing work!
I'm so glad you share your stuff with us. Smile
