Someone sent this to me thinking I was a bible-thumper, I guess. Ha ha. I am only one of the 14% to vote yes on taking "in God we trust" off the currency. Let's boost that number!

Done. But it's still only 14%.
"In God We Trust" came later, during the 1860s, during a surge in religious fundamentalism during the Civil War. So, yes, it has nothing to do with the Deist framers of the Constitution, and it should be removed. I voted, but it's still at 14%.

"Under God" in the pledge was tacked on during the 1950s McCarthy-era persecution of so-called "Communists," so it should be removed as well.

Yep. It always surprises me how many people don't know this. My dad went to school in the 1930s-40s when there was no "under god" in the Pledge, and I remember how shocked he was when I was in school and had to say it.
I voted. Still 14% though.
I voted, and then put a link to it on an atheist forum I follow.
honestly,do we want to waste more money to change the print on money? Does it really affect anyone THAT much that they cant look at or touch money because a few words are scrawled across it that they may not agree with? I voted no, not because i am christian, but because i think it would be a monumental waste of money to once again redesign and reprint all our currency. i was disgusted when we changed the look of the nickel, and state quarters, and all these other things that cost money to design, just for the sake of a different look? i think we have more pressing issues to throw money at than worrying about what it looks like or what it says. I am only concerned with those numbers in the corners, ya know 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100. other than that, it could say whatever it wants on it, i dont care, just dont waste more of my tax dollars redesigning just because.

Joe
I voted. Still 14 %. Hmmmm...........my vote counts, huh?
I don't even use money as in cash. It's debit, or I use GBP now that I'm in the UK. Occasionally some USD passes thru my hands but with debit cards things are easy so I barely see actual paper money anymore.
I don't use paper money and I'm an atheist so of course I voted that it needs to be removed, but there are much bigger things to worry about right now than this tired old argument. I guess MSNBC is just bored?
