I'm officially barren, as I now have no uterus. Woot!
I had a hysterectomy a couple weeks ago and it was a piece o' cake. I should have done it years ago when the uterine fibroids first started causing problems, but having surgery made me a nervous wreck, so I kept putting it off. Finally, the fibroids got to be so big that further procrastination was going to cause other medical issues.

Three nights in the hospital... had the staples removed exactly a week after the surgery and have felt perfectly fine ever since (the itching of the incision healing the second week sucked, but cocoa butter helped). Honestly, if I'd known it was going to be this easy, I would have done it eons ago and have saved all kinds of money on birth control.

No more periods.
No more birth control.
I'm freaking ecstatic.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations! That's great!
Congratulations!!! I have 2 friends who had uterine fibroids and I know how painful that can be, esp. with the heavy periods. I'm sure you'll be feeling a lot better!
Congratulations!
Congrats!!!
Congrats!! (sorry it's a little late) I am SSOOOOO jealous!!
Congrats!!! Big Grin I've been pleading to get mine out, but to no avail. I am mighty jealous. XD

WOW!! Fantastic! No more worries, scares or hassles! Balloons

I'm glad to hear that the surgery went smoothly for you. I always seem to read these nightmare hysterectomy tales.
I've begged my Dr. to have mine taken out too but he won't do it unless I'm suffering in some way. I am suffering - every month!

Having said that, I know a woman who had one and she went into early menopause, gained about 20lbs and she said if she had to do it all over again, she would not.

However, I have another friend who had one in her early 20's and has had no issues whatsoever. Lucky bitch!

I've lost about 15 pounds (about two pounds was the uterus and fibroids) since my surgery six weeks ago and I feel fantastic. I'm still on a "no lifting more than five pounds" restriction, which is frustrating, but I feel wonderful.
