Latest Boggling Celeb Baby Name: M.I.A.'s Ickitt
Today 10:42 AM PST by Gina Serpe

M.I.A.'s baby-naming book might have been, well, M.I.A. the day her son was born.

The British-born Sri Lankan rapper has, according to Latina, revealed the name of her three-week-old son, and it was definitely worth the wait: The "Paper Planes" singer has named her firstborn Ickitt.

(Fingers crossed the 31-year-old and her indie rocker beau, The Exit frontman Benjamin Bronfman, use the nickname "Kitt," not "Icky.")

M.I.A., whose real name is Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, welcomed the tyke just days after performing at the Grammys.

Little Ickitt now jumps to the head of the moniker-challenged star kid pack, joining the unforgettable Pilot Inspektor (papa Jason Lee), Audio Science (mama Shannyn Sossamon), Moxie CrimeFighter (papa Penn Jillette), Kal-El Coppola (Superman-loving papa Nicolas Cage), and Bronx Mowgli (Disney-buff 'rents Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz).

Never heard of MIA. But do these people WANT their children to be beaten up?

It might have been more interesting if she had named it Beckett for the playwright or someother odd connection. (Hell, Kal-El is a stupid name but at least it has some meaning to Nichols.)

ESH.
Oops! I spelled it wrong. It's actually "Ickitt". That makes all the difference! (eyeroll)

I only heard of M.I.A. the day after the Grammys, because it was mentioned in the media that she was like 10 months pregnant. So I guess I'm all of 4 weeks more informed than you are!
Her song Paper Planes was in Slumdog Millionaire. The part when the kids escape on the train and then age 5 years.

Yes, I really like that song. I first heard it about 6 months ago, so hearing it in Slumdog Millionaire when I saw it a couple of weeks ago was cool. It's perfect for that film.
Never heard of her. Is "Ickitt" ethnic in any way? Does it mean anything other than "beat the shit out of me because of my stupid name"?
Could be ethnic *shrug* She's Sri Lankan
She's a fantastic vocalist from Britain, her music is a mix of electro/jungle/dancehall/etc. Really jarring, brash political stuff - her father was an activist for the Tamils. Her music is really not for everyone but it is so beyond unique and I just love it. Her baby name choice though, yikes!
Well, I saw that movie, but I don't remember the song.

"Ickitt" doesn't sound Sri Lankan to me, but what do I know?
