A few of my friends on Facebook are parents. Most of them don't post much about their kids, just the occasional mention or picture. But there are three women in particular who have really young kids and every so often post status updates complaining about their kids. Some examples I've seen in the last couple of months:

"listening to two screaming boys"
"did not succeed at the store. tantrum prevailed."
"HAS ABOUT HAD IT WITH MORTY"

"is trying to figure out why E is screaming. Sick?"
"wonders how anyone gets things done with a newborn... "
"got 7 hours of sleep last night, uninterrupted. It's official, she's sleeping through the night at 4 weeks old!"
"is tired of cleaning up kiddie poop."
"is sick of the screaming"

"is getting ready to head to a Pump-It-Up birthday party. Can you say giant inflatables and screaming 5 year olds?"
"has been up practically all night with a whiny, sick baby."
"is packing lunches. It. Never. Ends."

Every time I see one of them post something like this, I get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that that will never be me. I will never have to put up with screaming children in my home, I will never have to clean up kid-poo, I will never have to deal with sick kids, I will never have to deal with the day-to-day chores that come with kids... I know my friends are happy with the lives they've chosen, but damn, that is NOT a life I would choose.
Makes you wonder why they bothered having kids.

I'm with you - not the life for me at all. I'd end up killing myself or the kids. I could not handle 18 years of that. No way - no how.
Dear God, those are brutal.

What a nightmare. I wonder if people have kids so they can complain a lot? They LOVE complaining about how "haaarrd" it is to raise kids. Well, if it's so damned hard, why the hell do it? Ugh.

It's just the natural progression of things. You grow up, get married, and have screaming, stinking, life-consuming babies Doh

But you'll never know the joys of parenthood, of true love, of true sacrifice, of being a whole woman, of seeing your child grow into a wonderful human being, of ....
I know what you mean!
Now, not on my FB page (which is pretty bad, but on my sister's page, she gets the moos posting:
_____ is:
"glad the kids are asleep"
"happy to be able to exercise because the kids are at the sitters"
"getting ready to meet the moms at Starbucks"

Everything seems to be glad when the kids are gone (asleep, in school, at the sitters)l or when the bored moo can meet up at the coffee shop with other bored moos.
Wow.

Hey, whenever I pose the latest on FB (like Jo enjoyed 10 hours of sleep, as usual) my one friend gets all hostile towards me. Never mind when I'm travelling. They act like it's the craziest thing in the world. You know lots of people get a good night's sleep and like to travel. Oh that's right. They tend to be CHILDFREE. LOL
Hee hee. I have a couple of them on my FB, too. One of my friends from high school was married for a long time before she sprogged her two little things. It's all about going to restaurants like Pizza Hut now instead of good places like she used to, and how one of the monsters knocked over a whole large cup of soda and it went everywhere, and how both kids are sick at the same time so that means no sleep for mommy....and all that shit. Fuck, dogs are hard enough for me, I can't imagine ever being happy with a kid in my life.
I just have to share this one that just popped up a few minutes ago:

"3 year olds + microwaves = BAD NEWS"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Yeah, cats and dogs can't work the microwave, so I think I'm safe from that one ever happening too.

Really? Hostile? Damn, sounds like they're just a wee bit jealous, don't you think? I post about being lazy and sleeping late pretty much every weekend, and not a single one of my FB friends has ever made a negative comment about it.

Did the 3-year-old microwave itself? Demonchild
Seen a few of those updates myself. Definitely a nice affirmation for my CF decision!
A few people I know seem like they complain about their sprogs constantly, and I can't help but wonder if they just want attention. It gets so annoying after a while. I just want to write on their walls "yeah, well, you knew the job was dangerous when you took it." Who would have ever guessed that there's a correlation between the increase in screaming babies and increase in dirty diapers to change. :: eye roll ::

LOL, I was thinking the same thing.
About a month ago I posted, "Lindsay is having another great day." One of my EX friends wrote that I was always doing fun stuff. I responded back that it was because I was dating and didn't have kids.
She unfriended me. *shrug*
She had 3 brats, one of which was autistic or something. Her updates were always about having a headache or cleaning kindercrap.

eta: Jo and the other CF people on my Facebook always have the best updates.
lindsay: She unfriended you after that comment?!! Whoa...that lady is scary.

I have a friend that complains about her two boys. I think it is funny because they are a couple that didn't want kids and then the "accident" and then the planned one to play with the "accident." I saw a recent update from her husband that they were going to a parenting class.
I feel a mixture of relief and sadness, depending on who it is. People I don't really know - eh... more of an eyeroll. Close friends - a little sad.

I, too, have a friend who really distanced herself from me after she had kids. She had blatant jealousy and I found it really odd because she WANTED kids and claims to LOVE raising them - AND, although I don't have kids, it's not like my life has been a shiny, happy party over the last decade.

I have also noticed that married people don't want to hear about those who are dating/having a crush/falling in love with someone new. Too painful? I don't know.

It's a shame that people aren't happy with their own choices and happy for others about theirs. Wait... sorry - little trip to lala land. Nutty

Yeah, though I suppose it could also be becaue I didn't write a bunch of "awwwww....sooo...pwecious..." when she posted about 50 photos of her sprogs standing in front of an X mas tree. Sometimes I do that, but quite frankly, her kids were fuggo. And the little matching outfits she had them in looked silly.

One thing I notice about several of my married/kidded friends on FB is if they aren't complaining about their sprogs, they are sick.
One friend updates weekely about some cold, infection or trip to the doctor. The first 4 times I wrote in "so sorry for you, have some tea and a Tylenol" or something. But now I feel like writing, "What the F$%@ is wrong with you?! GET HELP!!! You must be dying, no one is sick as often as you, are you allergic to your kids?"

HAHAHAHA! I have noticed this too.

LOL! I'm not married, and I want to hear about it!! Crushes are awesome. LOL
This one showed up yesterday:
"found red sharpie on the stove & walls, black sharpie on my bedroom window, bed frame, and dresser."
Just wait. The complaining about the kids never ends. This time it's about sharpie all over the place. In a few years it will be about teen pregnancies, run ins with the law, wrecked cars, failing grades, skipping school you name it. Schadenfreude really never ends when it comes to some breeders.
