It may surprise you to know I don't own a cell phone but over the past two years I've started to see the advantage of one but I'm extremely unwilling to adopt new technology especially if it costs money but with job hunting this could be useful, especially for getting directions in my car and such.

Is this legit?

GRR! I always hit submit too soon.

I don't care what the additional per minute costs are because I'm on the phone less than ten hours a month but I definitely do not want a contract or plan and I don't want a phone with features. I just want a dialtone and the ability to talk without dealing with Comcast.
Eddy I have an American cell phone that I use when I'm stateside... it was $20 at Walmart or Best Buy or someplace like that and came with $20 of airtime. It's pay as you go, which means it's about 10 cents a minute, but I put $100 on it and those minutes last a year. It was invaluable while I was travelling. In Canada there is nothing even REMOTELY similar, and airtime charges are way way way more. The US has this market nailed down.

Just go browse the aisles at Wallyworld and see the AT&T GO phones. That's what I have. It was cheap and awesome.
I have a prepay phone. Can't remember the price of the phone but wouldn't have bought it had it been over $50. It costs $15 a month.
Oh hell, I didn't know they were that cheap. I'll just hit the cell phone stores. I'm really wanting to dump Comcast and have an independent unit with way more features than I have. Thanks for your help guys.
LOL yeah, check this out. The first package listed is $30 and includes the handset and $35 of airtime. WTF??? It's refurb, but still.
Jo, you're wonderful. I'll have to do some research. I guess this thread shows how out of touch with technology I am because of my perception that portable phones are for the rich. Damn 1980s!
