"TORONTO -- A Toronto judge has stripped a mother of custody of her three children after the woman spent more than a decade trying to alienate them from their father.

Justice Faye McWatt ruled the mother's campaign to brainwash the children into thinking that their father was a bad person was nothing short of emotional abuse.

The girls, aged 9 to 14, were turned over to their father, a vascular surgeon, at a Toronto courthouse.

McWatt ruled the mother can have no contact with the children except in conjunction with counselling, for which the mother must pay.

The counselling is to include an intensive therapy program for children affected by "parental alienation syndrome."

My mother did that to me, her emotional abuse really knew no bounds.

I'm going to send this article to DH. This is exactly what his daughter's mother has done. Luckily it appears to have backfired on her.

That is just sad, using the kids as a pawn like that. Poor kids, I hope the therapy works.

Yep, someone in DH's family did this as well... unfortunately the judges in those cases weren't so understanding and continued to give the mom (brainwasher) more and more child support money despite her emotional abuse of the kids...

Hopefully more judges follow suit

This is what I hate about divorce. The kids are the ones who suffer the most as they are pawns.

I'm surprised we don't see more of this kind of thing, especially since the divorce rate is so high. One of my close friends is going through a messy separation/divorce, and I know both parents are trying to turn the kids against the other spouse. It's so, so sad.
