Before I leave for Vegas.. Please I need some help guys, lol
This question is for serious cooks only. Or Those who know a lot about spices and spaghetti sauce
And this will be cool for me too, cause when I get back I will have the answer hopefully. (thanks to the wonderful FOAK Smile ) And I can start my NS when we return from our vacation. And I plan on having some Spaghetti for dinner.
BUT! My problem is, for me is I think their spaghetti sauce tastes too sweet (that is imho)
So, is there a spice I can add to blend in and cut the sweetness out?
I tried garlic but it did not help much. It was still sweet believe it or not. So what else can I try??? Is there anything you can add to sweetness to take it away, or is it too late?

Please help, thanks loads for any and all replies. XXXXX ((((( )))))) TW

Edit BTW FTR their Ravoli sauce is a whole different taste very yummy indeed Smile

Edit part 2: It was pointed out to me that my request was not as clear as I hoped it would be so. In case there are still some people here who don't know this. I have been on NutriSystem since Aug.
I was referrring to their pre packaged food that come to me in the mail, ( bog box that lasts a month)
I am not looking for any recipes. It's going to be hard enough to stay away from yummy foods in Vegas.
But, hey its a vacation. So I can splurge one time, lol
Thanks for any and all help sauce question wise.
per google search:

If the sauce is too sweet, you need to add something with an acidic base to it to cut the sweetness. try something like white vinegar, or even a red wine vinegar or just plain red wine. I even read of a guy who said he was a chef for over 45 years and he used lemon juice to cut the sweetness.

GOOD DEAL JOE THANKS!!!!! I actually have some lemon juice in the house. I will add just a tad in the container and stir it up and I will let you know how it turns out.
I might just have it for my dinner tonight, lol
( Of course I have other selections when I get home)
hope it works out!
Why not make your own. It's not that difficult.

A jar of tomatoes or tomato puree, onions, garlic, salt, pepper.
First I try to make sure that the sauce I buy doesn't have sugar or corn syrup (bane of my existance right now) Or at the very least, has very little listed.
Then I add more garlic, basil, and oregano. (The dried herbs work best if you put it in right away. If you have fresh basil, add it toward the end.) If you like a little heat, you may want to try a little red pepper flakes. Or even a diced roasted red pepper. (Like the jarred ones from the store)
Since it is for a pre-made sauce, I agree with Joe. I like adding dry red wine. Not cooking wine, make it something that you would normally drink. If you don't do wine, just use a red or white wine vinegar.
Joe, the lemon sounds interesting.
