Today I get a call at work from my DH that our dog is acting strange. Strange meaning that DH left the room to go upstairs and when he came back down, he discovered that Kelly had chewed off some tassles from a rug in our hallway. (No biggie, it's an old rug). But she's never done anything like that before. She's never chewed any of our rugs, furnishings, just her toys. Then, she started licking the carpet in her room! Weird. All of a sudden while DH is talking with me, she starts vomiting so DH immediately takes her outside, where she continues to vomit, in between eating grass. Now I know from having dogs before that when they eat grass, it usually means their stomach is upset for some reason. Who knows, maybe she ate something up off the ground on one of her walks.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? Should we give her some Gatorade to calm her stomach?
My dog licks the carpet all the time! She's obsessed with it. But otherwise I can't give much advice - mine will eat grass and puke too but usually they are OK. I've not heard of gatorade to calm their stomachs, so I'll make a note of that - you've done that before?
She seems OK now. DH leashed her up outside, she ate some grass, didn't puke again and now is resting comfortably inside. I think the Gatorade might be for diarrhea. It's been so long since I've owned a dog! It's supposed to prevent dehydration.
Awww,

Poor Kelly, maybe she just had an upset stomach? Did she eat anything in the last few days that is different for her? Murphy has a sensitive stomach so unfortunately I know your pain. He got a bunch of pea soup that got spilled yesterday and I was expecting the "midnight run" to the yard but we got off lucky...this time just some Fart

If she's ok now I'd just let it run it's course. Murphy gets pepto bismol caplets at the first sign of trouble but that's because his guts are wacky and if we lave it it turns into a vet visit and a course of pills.

Hugs,
Jen and the Murph
Thanks, Jen. She's doing much better. She threw up one more time, about 2 hours ago, just a little bit and now she seems all mellowed out. We're keeping her confined to her room just for tonight for observation. I called the emergency vet hotline and asked if I could give her anything. They said without seeing the dog, they wouldn't recommend I give her anything. If she's still vomiting tomorrow, we'll bring her in. Ka-ching! Oh well, that's part of having a pet.

My husband thinks she ate the tassels because she was mad at him for not playing with her when SHE wanted to play. What an attention whore! LOL! She's spoiled because we were both on vakay over the Xmas holidays so we both got to spend lots of time with her.
