I am surprised attempts were made to save him.. Isn't Travolta one of those Christian Scientest dude's who don't believe in modern medicine?
Well at any rate my heart does go out to him and his family.
No Parent should ever outlive a child. Sad

Aw, that's very sad. I'm a huge Travolta fan, and he seems like a genuinely nice guy.

He's a Scientologist - completely different religion from Christian Scientist. AFAIK the only medicine the Scientology shuns is psychiatry.
Regardless, to lose a child must be terrible.

Agreed.
This is so sad!
John Travolta seems to be such a kind and nice man. It is always so tragic when awful things like this happen.

Thanks for clearing that up for me WW.. And yes as I said before this was so very sad indeed. My heart breaks for poor John. I am a huge Travolta fan. I must have seen him in his musical "Hairspray" at least 10 times now! I cannot imangine what him and his poor family are going through. What a horrible way to start off the new year Sad
I thought this was interesting in light of the question:

However, as an academic, I don't necessarily trust Wikipedia as the authority. Smile
There is a lot of talk that Jett was autistic. Scientologists do not believe in autism... they believe all 'ailments' are just body thetans anyhow, and you can sweat them out in their saunas. They do not believe in anti-seizure meds, either, and supposedly Jett suffered from seizures. It's entirely possible (and probable) that his death was aggravated by $cientology's weird practices. I hope if anything comes of this at all, it's that John Travolta sees how fucked up $ci is and starts speaking out against it.

"from your mouth to gods ear" as the saying goes. In other words I hope to gawd John T. does give up Scientology and renounces it totally as the farce it is. Meds were made for a reason.
And if they never gave his poor son Jett any anti seziure
meds??!
That imho is a case for manslaughter.
That would be like if I had never given my poor Misty, may she Rip, her eplipsy meds, when she was having her seizures. And for me just to sit and watch it happen? OMG that is terrible. And that would just have NEVER had happened period!
And these people claim they love their child??? And they let that act happen?? That is insane!!! imho.
To let poor Jett suffer through seizure after seizure with no medication? ( shaking my head in total disgust) that is soooooooo
wrong!!!!!

Rip Jett Sad
Tory Christman is a famous ex-$cientologist who was epileptic and was told to stop taking her seizure meds on several occasions. She nearly died as a result of it. She speaks out constantly about the organization's propensity to make sick people sicker, because they believe all sickness is in your head and can be 'wished' away.

Oh yeah I always wish my sickness away doesn't work. Yeah I think this is totally sad. I wonder what is going through Jett's parents heads now about meds and all that?

PrairieGirl

If his son's illness was not treated because of their religious faith, then I truly hope it will force a crisis of faith. If that poor kid's life was cut short because they refused to use standard reatment for a controllable condition, I hope they put the blame squarely on themselves, and not on "god's will". Note the "if"s -- some regular ol' seizures can be violent enough to make one hit their head or fall down, and that might have little to do with whether or not he was on some kind of protocol.
There is no 'god' in $cientology. They would have blamed Jett himself for not using 'the tech' to rid himself of the ailment.

Thanks for this link. I'm now sitting here, still in my jammies, watching a bunch of her vlog installments, she's fascinating!
I was thinking the same thing Jo said.

I do hope that the family realizes that their child could have had a better life if he hadn't been limited by their "religion" (cult, whatever the fuck you want to call it) Even though this seems to be an accident unrelated to his conditions, perhaps the family will want to prevent anything possible from happening to anyone else.

It's still sad.
Well if they blame their son, that's just sad. I agree with Kirby - CULT!
