Stayed home. Going out is HIGHLY overrated!
I didn't stay home, but wasn't "Out" out as we just went to the neighbors. A bunch of us from the block got together and we had a blast. Last year we stayed in so it was a good change.

Everyone is telling me the New Years thing they do in London is amazing and while we are here we should check it out. Not sure if we will, it's unlikely as we only have one more chance and DH's schedule rarely allows it. Plus, I don't think he's into going...
DH and I went to a very small gathering at a friend's house. There were only 6 of us all together, so it was very low key. We had a lot of fun, and they always have amazing food and unique drinks. DH and I aren't really into the big celebrations at bars and such...doesn't really suit us, too many people.

We did some of both. Sea World was open, so we went out for lunch and then spent the afternoon there. For the evening, we stayed home, made a pizza and a cake, and watched TV.
I drove my parents to their NYE dinner so they could imbibe safely. Other than a short visit with two friends at their apartment, I spent my night parked on Skype talking to Davros. I had four beer, chatted with him till about 4 a.m. and then called it a night. People are idiots at the best of times, and especially at alcohol fueled events on NYE. I didn't want to fight crowds at bars, try for a cab or deal with house party drama. I much prefer staying in on NYE.

I would kill to be in London again for NYE. You should go next year.

Each year DH and I usually do nothing, but this year he's on deployment and I was invited to a couple's house for a small party. I met the people on meetup.com and it was fairly calm and normal, some people were playing Wii, and then later they played around with the karaoke machine. Nice food, not a lot of drinking, not a frat guy atmosphere. It was a nice change from the tedious infantile NYE parties I've been to in the past.

When we lived in Portland, Maine, they used to have this street party with bands and a fireworks. We did that one year and it was okay, but standing outside watching firerworks when it was literally 5 degrees Fahrenheit and snow and ice all over wasn't too fun. But the next year the city decided to do away with the "adult" NYE forever and change it to an all day children's festival and end everything at 8pm. No bands, no fireworks, just clowns and face painting and storytelling. It was pure fucking awful. But Portland, Maine, is militantly breederific.
I stayed in, but I wanted to go to Penn's Landing to watch the fireworks. Unfortunately, the temperatures in the teens and 50mph wind gusts put the kibosh on that.
I voted pie.

I stayed in my room until about 11:45pm, reading and doing a few other things, then I wandered over to another building where someone was watching a movie. So, I rang in the New Year by watching Wanted and then getting a good night's sleep before going to work like it was any other day.

There was a party but it was dry (which I don't mind, I'm just mentioning it because it wouldn't have been crazy or packed) and when I dropped by at 9pm it was pretty quiet with people watching TV or checking email... mostly the difference from usual was that the lights were off.

Normally I celebrate by going to my friend's birthday party (I've been doing that for about half my life) which is fun and silly but familiar, and always at someone's home so we don't go 'out'. I admit that I missed being able to go, but it seems to be getting full of couples who like to show off (causing others who wouldn't normally to compete) and after last year I had pretty much decided not to go anymore.
Hosted neighborhood shin dig, between 2-12 people at any given time.
Perfect.
I was in bed before 10:00.
After picking up a few groceries after lunch on Wednesday, I've been home the whole time. Not going anywhere today either. Much prefer to stay home and get things done than go out anywhere.
I went to a very laid-back party. DH was feeling sick, so I went out by myself because I had promised to go. It was a party for my French conversation group and it was only 20 minutes away. It was a nice mellow party. Maybe about 20 people were there. The hosts are both in AA, so there was not much drinking going on. I actually took home the champagne I brought because only 5 of us were toasting with it. The rest had sparkling cider.

I got home at 12:45AM.

Yesterday (new year's day) I hosted a 6 mile walk at 10AM and 12 people showed up. It was a good way to start the year.
Heck no. Amateur hour annoys me. People who can't hold their liquor, lousy music, and overpriced drinks? NO!
I just went over my friend's house. We had snacks, did hair and makeup, and watched a movie.
