A year ago I had an interview for a state wide non-profit - ED job. Someone else got it. I found out today that she was an insider candidate. She'd been a local president of the group and involved for more than 15 years. I wish those people hadn't wasted my time, dragging me up here for an interview.

They were even really unprofessional about dragging it out - I told them I had another offer and they still wouldn't tell me yes or no - even though they had to have known it was a no. Finally, they sent my rejection letter to Animalkind, where I volunteer, rather than to me! Not even sure how they got the address of AK!? Nice office staff you've got there!
Ugh. Morons!
I'm having another pain/fatigue flare. Sad I didn't feel like I overdid on Saturday, but I guess I must have.

I'm taking tomorrow as a sick day.

The people who live next door, 4 feet away, are pure trash, and I'm goddamned sick and tired of them. The whole street is quiet and nice, and everyone is respectful and they take care of their property and they are friendly, except these fuckers. They moved in right next to me, three months after we moved in. They refuse to say hello when people greet them. They nearly killed their first dog with neglect, and now they've got a new one. They throw garbage all over their side of our shared grassy patch and leave it there for months until they decide it's time to toss it over to my side. They're loud and shitty and trashy. They've torn up their blinds inside so you can see that from the street, they've left a Coke can on their deck for several months now, they've punched out their window screens and some of them lay where they fell or are propped up against the house. They've turned the property into a dump and they're just renters. The HOA apparently doesn't care. I hate them so much I can't see straight.
Friday I was feeling a bit run down, but I figured it was just because I was still tired from my trade show. Saturday, DH had to deal with me all snappish and crabby. He kept asking if I felt good, which made me mad and more snappish. Later he told me that I looked pale and was glad I had taken a nap. I went to bed that night and early Sunday morning woke up sweating. Basically I had broken a fever that I didn't know I had for two days.

Ugh! My sympathies. This is why I loathe jobhunting so much. Not only do you have to jump through hoops to get hired, but then you get this nonsense.
I can't take today as a sick day, because my coworkers farted around all day, so I have to get a package out this morning.

At least I'm blowing this dump at 1:30.

My boss - let's see, controlling much? Because she reads all my emails she saw one where I sent a message to a staff person at the hotel where our conference is. I wrote something along the lines of "There are people that I need to book rooms for. You and I should talk sometime in the next day or two about this."

Here's my boss's reply to me:
In the future please send a request for assistance rather than a "you should" message.

WTF? I just cannot stand her need to control EVERY FUCKING thing I write or do. If I write to someone "We should talk about xxx" rather than "Please take a moment of your day to consider talking with me about this - I need your help," it reflects only on me, not on you. Not to mention that my way was perfectly polite in context!
CNK-
You boss SHOULD take a major chill pill.

Esh. And I thought mine was bad.
Cats, I've taken to calling my assignment supervisor "MicroSupe," because she either micromanages or she overcomplicates things to the point where I don't understand what is going on any more, and then turns around and makes it look like I don't know how to do my job.

I was THIS CLOSE to putting in my notice this morning. I found out, though, that she treats another coworker of mine the same way.

People like this and your boss should simply not be allowed to supervise.

Is there any way, CNK, you can just not copy her on every email? I mean, how's she going to know?

Good grief!
Jen M.
Thanks, guys. BC - we all share the same exact email address. Can you imagine? So she looks at every single one of my emails and all the responses. It's brutal.

BTW - LOVE "MicroSupe"!! Perfect!
CNK, WTF? Doesn't your boss have any actual work to do?
I did a test kitchen thing for a friend. It was a gluten free recipe and so I had to buy much of the ingredients. Horrible. I think the recipe may be okay for the most part, but one of the ingredients was impossible for me to find so I went ahead and "punted" and it was like eating sandcastles. Told her what happened and that I was sorry it didn't turn out.
I may try the filling in regular piecrust because it was YUMMY. (Spiced figgy jam-like yummy.)

THANK YOU!!!! She's a workaholic, naturally!
CNK--your boss is flat out horrible. I had a boss that set up the emails so that each employee could have their own email address, i.e. anastasia@companyname.com, but she had her webmaster create a "blind" copy of each email coming in and going out so that she could secretly read everyone's emails. The webmaster became my friend and warned me about sending or receive anything personal via email. One day someone emailed me at work about doing some work for him, he was a trad jazz bandleader and wanted me to do some freelance graphic design for his band as well as some managing on the side. The email was waiting for me that morning, as well as my boss's email furiously demanding to know what this was all about. Gods she was horrible. I only last 5 months at that job, but it has scarred me for life. Interestingly, the job before that one had the most insane boss I've ever encountered. I only lasted 4 weeks at that job, but I have lots of insane stories for that one, and that has also scarred me for life. Working atmospheres in New Orleans were fucked up. The last job I had there before I moved was also in an insane atmosphere. The owner of the company called the police one afternoon to forcibly remove his business partner from the premises, and that was his own brother-in-law. The owner guy just wanted to take over the whole company and didn't talk about it with his partner, and then he just called the police that day and that was that. They are both well known rich businessmen in NOLA and it made the news that night.

Back to my sleazy trashy neighbors: I met the new puppy yesterday, he's a small mixed breed, little precious white pup. No collar, no leash, no vaccinations. I care about dogs more than anything, this little guy is in for a short and miserable life, and it's going to kill me, just like when they had their last dog, a pit bull for ego satisfaction, and they neglected her until she nearly died when she jumped off their balcony. When she needed to go to the vet for that, they gave her away. They think of dogs as nothing more than objects, toys to play with, and they refuse to spend any money on shots or neutering or flea/tick/heartworm prevention. And when the newness wears off the dog can just run away or die or be taken to the pound. I hate these people. I'm more than likely going to have to call the Humane Society, but they are totally going to know it was me, and they make living here unbearable enough. If only they weren't 4 feet away, I'd have some anonymity. Maybe I can get a different neighbor to make the complaint....
Oy. What a headache!

Feel free to use microsupe. LOL!

Anastasia, they are shit. I hope someone does call the HS one them--or just steals their puppy.

I hate people like that!
anastasia-
My girlfriend has gotten her last two dogs because of people like that. I call it creatively aquiring.
Is this "bring your brats on the bus week" or something? Twice in 2 days I've had to get up and move to another seat because some moo boards the bus with her brats and sits right across from me! WTF? Normally it's nothing but commuters on the bus. Where are these people coming from?
Bleh. school is out most places. Maybe that's the problem.
