Ugh. I had a conversation with my grandmother. Grueling. She is ultra-conservative, loves FOX News, and is going senile. Like most men, I am not a fan of the phone but she loves the phone and she is getting lonely. I sympathize, but an hour and a half of hearing retarded conservative crap, local small town gossip, reports about her numerous doctor visits where nothing is wrong, her dogs who frankly I'd beat the crap out of because they are annoying, my biological father whom I am estranged from, how the economy isn't as bad as people think, how the economy is horrible because Obama trashed it in a week, how Obama hasn't done anything, how Democrats (and liberals) are uneducated, how there are so many good jobs (aka secretary on a part time basis) in my crappy hometown, and how she wishes there were a man around the house.

She said I could live with her (and those two annoying yapdogs) in my biological father's home and take classes. Umm, right. I'm going to give up sovereignty to live in his house when we literally would love to kill each other. I'll get right on that especially since I'd be her servant, taking her to her numerous appointments, shoveling the driveway, and being her nursemaid when her health is declining. Uh, yeah. Sign me up.

Christ I hate her so much anymore.
Holy hell. Some people are so ungrateful.

My PAM: Ended up home the whole day due to the ice. That cost me a flloater, unless the company gives us some admin leave. *suck*

Apparently I got off the bus and walked 3 blocks with my skirt all hitched up in the back and my cellulite ass showing. Luckily a random stranger tapped me on the shoulder and told me to fix it!

Ugh!!!! Mortifying!

My moan: I've never lived in a city with a local Mini Cooper dealership, and I've always had to drive a long fucking way just to have my goddamned oil changed (no one else on the planet can work on Minis).

In Maine, I'd have to drive 2 hours to Boston to get it worked on, and in those early days there were lots of kinks to be worked out of the new Mini, so I was taking those 4 hour round trips, plus the many hours stuck at the dealership, a lot.

In Tulsa, the closest one was in Oklahoma City, just over an hour and a half away. Yuck.

So I figured, hey, San Diego is a real city, they will have one. Nope. The closest one is 32 miles away in the city of Escondido (about 45 minutes drive with traffic), and the special "courtesy" shuttle service refuses to take me home "that far away." Fuck. They said they would take me to places around Escondido, like shopping. Sorry, but I'm not a typical chick, I don't get thrills out of of wandering around malls and strip malls staring at shit I don't need.

I hope the next place we live has a damned dealership locally, for fuck's sake. At least they're getting closer with each move.
OMG. CFS, I'm so sorry about that, but I'm glad you got a kind stranger and not some asshat with a camera phone! Wink

Anastasia, we have the same problem. Both dealerships "nearest" us are about an hour away. We chose to go with the one in the Baltimore area, because the one in Virginia SUCKS. The good news is we can take it in on Saturdays, and I have friends up in the area, so we may be able to meet up with them. I've even posted to a local Cafe list asking if anyone knows local mecahnics who work on them. Nope. We LOVE the car, though, so it's worth it to us.

My PAM: I listed an item on Etsy the night before last, and today, I realized my photos are way too dark! They're fine when I pull them up at home--It's Etsy somehow fucking up the pictures! Grah! They do this with cropping and sizing, too. I'm always careful to "overcompensate" for the "adjustments" they make. So frustrating!

Oh, fuck...I hadn't even thought about cameraphones!
DOH, CFS, hopefully the stranger got to ya before the pervs did.

I have 2 Mini dealers really close to me, and a 3rd not too far away. One in San Francisco is only 15 miles from where i live, and the one on Concord is only 7 miles from where I work. the other one is like 28 miles from where i live. You should move up here Anastasia Smile

I broke a tooth over the weekend and finally got an appointment to get it looked out. Turns out I need ANOTHER root canal on it. I've already had TWO root canals and TWO crowns on this tooth, but it turns out that it has three roots, and it just keeps falling apart. It'll cost me almost two grand to fix just that one tooth. Nevermind anything else that's wrong.

I have so many upcoming doctors' appointments and tests next month that the co-pays alone will run me almost a thousand bucks. Nevermind any medication or other tests I may need to have.

Christ, I wish I just wouldn't wake up anymore.

From your lips to Fortuna's ears, Ark! I think I'd really love living up in the Bay area, I love the weather and the landscape and the culture, it's just lovely up there. San Diego is fun but it's too hot and a bit too right wingy/fundy. DH is looking into the possibility of the Navy sending us up to NoCal the next time we move, maybe in about 2 years or so. That would be sweet.
Nadleeh, I'm sorry to hear about your continued health problems. Sad

I never understood why you wouldn't tell someone about a thing like this.
11 hours away from home today and again tomorrow for training up in the big city. Not in my job description and sprung on me at the last possible minute (via email yesterday afternoon when office was closed due to snow & ice). Yeah. What I really wanted to do for 2 days....
I've been here at the Mini service place for over 6 hours now. I have no idea when I'll get to go home.
CFS that sucks!! I'm glad someone told you about it, even though it took a little while.

Nadleeh - sorry to hear about your tooth. Root canal: Boooo!!!
Nadleeh - not fun at all. I feel really badly for you. Three root canals in one tooth? I can't fathom it.

My very minor PAM-
Going to MIL's for the football game. Which would normally not be THAT big a deal, but she called last night (after we had been out to eat with her and her sister) and asked if I would bring a dessert and the dip I took last year. SIGH. Fine, but it will the dessert of MY choosing and only if I can find the dip recipe again.
The other annoyance is that she has a small dog. Actually a sweet little thing but we use to take our dog over to visit before she got the little dog (it is the same age as our dog, MIL got it from one of her aunts who moved to a nursing home). But my dog doesn't like her little dog too much and last year showed her displeasure by taking a shit next to the little dog's bed upstairs. (VERY much on purpose.)
My annoyance. We have to be over at her house by 4:30 - leave our place at 4 - and won't be home until probably 10. Which will majorly screw up our dog's eating schedule. If I didn't have to watch her like a hawk, I would suggest to DH that we take her and just keep her in the family room (blocking the stairs).
Quote:That's reallly crummy! All of it. I hope you can find a ride to your hotel.

I am trapped at work due to a monster snowstorm that hit overnight. I reserved a room at a hotel near here, but checkin isn't until 3am. Considering I've been here since midnight that sucks. SOmeone is going to have to take me and pick me up 'cause we're in the hood and the dope dealers never take a snow day. The route from work to the hotel crosses the scenes of three murders in just the past several months.

Also, one of my childed co-irkers called in "sick". Wink Wink Nod Nod. Even though his wife works from home his kiddies were off school. But come the holidays he'll still get preferential treatment. This year he got Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's off while the rest of us get screwed.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I did indeed get a ride and another ride back to the station that night. I gave the room to someone who was getting off as I was getting to work and didn't think they could make it home. I got home the next morning. We were getting some sleet and freezing rain but the roads were slushy enough to be passable.

Another storm is bearing down on us for next week. Sigh! But at least January is almost over and we are closer to spring!
I'm watching a crappy movie about some volcano exploding. Good god I feel dumber having watched this.

LOL. Sorry, but this post made me laugh.

That's fucked up, but why didn't they do all the roots the first time?

By this point you could have had the tooth yanked and had one of those fake realistic ones (the kind drilled into your jaw) attached. Sheesh!

I'm scared because I have a dead tooth (had the root canal done 2 years ago- 4 frekin' deep roots at once!) and never got a crown. The idea scares me because I'm scared it won't work, or I'll need another crown or it will get infected or whatever.

Dental work sucks Sad I really sympathize
The first really nice nice day (over 40 degrees F) in quite a while and I was completely laid out flat.
We had gone to eat before getting groceries. We ended up changing our minds from HuHot (Mongolian Grill) to Chipolte's (burrito joint). Mostly because I forgot that we had a Chipolte's since it is in the mall. Been to one before several times, so knew what I wanted. DH got basically the same thing but for the sauce and he got a pop. Within about 2 hours I was so tired and dragging that we only stopped at the one grocery store and didn't make it to the second one that I needed to go to. From there we will just say that the night was VERY VERY BAD. (No need to share the TMI) And I ended up by Saturday afternoon with a temp of 101.4. Yeah. I wasn't happy.
But hey, I got just enough better by Sunday afternoon to go to MIL's for the Superbowl. Joy.
