JFC! Eddy, I'm so sorry to hear this!
This sucks massively.

Eddy Wrote:Sigh. I found out at 5pm that today is my last day on this assignment. Way to give me advance notice guys. They said it was a budget thing and not disciplinary but the manager of the temp services wants me to meet with her. This is not sounding good. The only thing I can think of is that I took too many days off.
WL:

I am so sorry your friends are treating you this way.
I hope you manage to have a good time at your party despite them anyway. Maybe after the party you can send them all a note of some kind saying. " What a wild Party I had" It was the best ever. Too bad you missed it" or something along those lines. Then maybe they will get green enough to realize what a mistake they made in not coming.
Eddy: I am so ssorry

You have really had the worst luck his year job wise. I was so hoping his would work out for you.
But if it makes you feel any better your not alone.
My hubby's best friend has been out of work now for over 2 months.
This Economy SUCKS! I wish you

in finding a better job.
And if and when you do try not to take so much time off next time

Employers frown at people taking time off. That is just how it works sad to say.
But I am so very sorry you got caught up in the "last hired first fired" syndrome. I am sure that is what it WAS REALLY all about.
My PAM is that I have a real bad case of the runs
And my tummy is all upset.
I have to eat, in order for me to take my meds. But my tummy says, no thanks to food,
I hate it when I get sick!

Yogurt is good at those times, TW!
My PAM (it's a minor one): My mind is on hyperdrive, and I can't shut it off. I have so much to do in the next week and month or two!
JenM.
My birthday is tomorrow, and my allergies have kicked into high gear. (At least, I hope that's all it is given that I just had the creeping crud a month ago!) I haven't been able to get in the pool the last two days because I'm so tired from not sleeping due to the post-nasal drip. Oh, and I gained five pounds during my month out of water aerobics. I have a gazillion meetings coming up next week. Can I just crawl in a hole till I feel better?
The saga continues with the job...
My temp assignment suddenly ended last night. I got the call at ten of five so that shows how short the notice was. They basically said it was because of budget and because of lower enrollment. Kind of fishy to me because there is need for me there, they've always praised my work, and gone out of their way to accommodate me. I liked the job and the people and I am pretty sure I was well liked there.
Today I had to go to HR because a complaint was issued against me.
"Someone saw you do something offensive somewhere at some time off campus outside of your work hours."
What the hell does this mean? There were no specifics given at all. What makes me suspicious is the timing of this event and the end of my assignment.
I've already decided that I will file a counter-complaint for harassment by official channels but I'm strongly considering speaking to an attorney because I effectively lost my job because of this. Note: I have not been terminated from employment formally, I merely had a temp assignment end.
Also I'm going to get a written response and a copy of the complaint if possible.
Why must work be so frustrating?
Wait a dayum minute here! Some person saw you do something they were not happy with - but it was away from work and not during work hours? WTF does that have to do with the job?
My daycare center supervisor does not like that I work on weekends at the tobacco shop, but she is smart enough to know that at 12.5 hours per week, her agency does NOT own my soul, nor have a right to dictate what I do away from her workplace. Hell, she could not even say something if I took a late-night job at the local porn store on the interstate either! As long as I am following local laws and not bringing the stuff to the daycare, it is no one's business what I do after hours.
Yes, Eddy, most definitely get a good gander at the exact complaint and file away against it. That just absolutely sucks!
It sounds like an excuse to get rid of you. You have every right to ask for details and honestly unless you were doing something illegal it's NOT an employment matter (and even if you were I'm not sure it can be an issue if it's not done during work hours unless it's something specifically prohibited? Maybe? ) You need to find out WHAT it is you're being accused of in order to mount any sort of defense and yes- call an employment lawyer ASAP!! Not Monday- start calling today!
If you still can talk to the manager on-site NOT the temp agency person (they are clueless or will claim ignorance) and ask them for a reference if they will give you one and ask for specifics. You've got NOTHING to lose at this point so call and tell them what the agency told you and that you're confused you thought they were pleased with your work etc. etc. and can you please let me know what I did to offend you?
Seriously, it's a tough conversation but you've already had your assignment end, you have every right to ask questions.
Oh, and while you're at it- start signing up with every other temp agency in town, specifically the top competitors of the one you're registered with. Get yourself someone who is on YOUR side even if it means fighting tooth and nail to get it.
Ditto on what ozarkmoon & Kirby said.
This is horse shit! No one has a right to dictate what you do with your life after work hours. This is the United States! Not Nazi Germany! I hope you get all the neccesssary info you can Eddy, and I really hope you can follow through on this an fight it all the way, cause imo,You got a raw deal!
Dune 67: Happy Birthday for tomorrow. It sucks being sick on your
birthday, been there, did it.
I hope you feel better soon
My PAM: I got a splitting headache. I have been getting them almost every night now, I have no idea why?
On top of my daily chronic pain I need headaches like a hole in the head, pardon my pun,

The asparagus and parmesan ravioli I purchased for dinner is less than thrilling. Way less than thrilling. Also I went to visit a friend in the hospital today, the whine is definitely hers. She had an MRI yesterday and a lumbar puncture today. Ouch.
Well, it looks like about 5 of my friends are planning to show up after all. The only thing is that supposedly a hurricane is coming. I'm not looking forward to driving down the shore in that. But we'll see what the day brings...
Sending good anti-hurricane vibes Water Lily's way, good job vibes Eddy's way, and good painkiller vibes to TW and bellis_coldwine's friend.
I just have a little pithy whine.
My first two weeks of linguistics class I was there taking notes like I always do. I take lots and lots of notes. Today this new girl shows up. The instructor tells her to get notes from someone in class. Guess who gets a tap on the shoulder? Me. Yup, she sat behind me. She asked if she could take my notes for the entire past two weeks with her over the weekend to study and rewrite for herself! I do not know this person from a hole in the wall!!! I told her no - I needed to organize all of them this weekend. I had to tell her no three times. The nerve of her assuming she could take a stranger's focused work and effort without so much as introducing herself. I eventually told her that next week I'll let her have them. - and right after that I told myself she is not taking them home. Instead, after class we are going to the copier together. If she doesn't want to pay for copies - too bad.
The same thing happened before in a different class. The person wanted to take my notes home with them. She wasn't new to the class, but simply periodically absent. I said I was willing to let her take them to the copy machine downstairs. She said she could copy them cheaper at Kinkos which was 5 miles away!! The instructor was standing right there in front of us and he took them to make copies for her for free at the copier by his cubicle.
Opilies: the utter audacity of people just kills me. I'm a diligent note taker in class as well and it pains me that someone can not show up or not pay attention and then assume they can milk off the hard work of others. I'm glad you stood your ground and did not let her take the notes home, good for you.
My parents' 50th was July 26; the reception is tomorrow, 2-4pm, and I'm supposed to do set up in the morning because I'm the heathen who doesn't go to church (note, I have absolutely no problem with this plan, it was my idea). Today, actually tonight, is a family picnic. A MONTH ago, I put in an RTO (Request for Time Off, for us part-timers, it's just an occasional scheduling preference) for today and tomorrow, I said that I could go either way on today, but HAD to have tomorrow off.
Schedules are made up on Friday for the next Sun-Sat. Last week I saw that my RTO had been approved, and I have all day today off. Yay. Yesterday, I got my schedule for this coming week. I work 11:30-5 tomorrow. Remember there's an hour (ok, 45 minutes) of commute. I talked to the Ops person yesterday, but it may be too late to find someone to do it. The guy who is Ops today has a note to check for a sub. I also have Tues and Thurs off, I'm willing to work either of those days. Heck, I was showered and dressed appropriately by 9, I could have been there today.
My parents, taken in July at the local Farmer's Market:

Instead of going to the cottage my mother wanted me to stay home with the dog. She's doing a party tonight and didn't wanted him in the way. I would go to bed right now, but I don't want to wake up in the middle of the night. The evening is long and boring.
Tomorrow is Grandparents Day. Since when? Who created this and when (Don't worry, I'll look it up in a minute.)
All of my Grandparents are dead, but thanks Wal-Fart for reminding me over your loud speaker.
Instead I will spend the day mourning my friend's father at his visitation and then celebrating DH's birthday (which is today) with my parents.
****
So I spoke with my friend. Her father was killed by an 18-wheeler who ran a red light and hit the bus he was in.
I fucking HATE people.
HATE
Why is it there is absolutely nothing you can say to someone who lost her parent?
FUCK GOD DAMN IT GOD FUCKING DAMN IT
*whew* that feels a little better... a little....
1. Two people in my office of 5 are here and they are SICK SICK SICK today. They both have bad colds. One is my boss! Thanks a million, boss, for bringing in all your germs here to the office. I really appreciate that!
2. I found out today that because my job, although I am paid by the state, is not state - FUNDED, means that I am not eligible for internal postings. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. This is very, very bad news. It means my odds of getting a better job w/in the state just went way down. Not good, given that I am BORED OUT OF MY MIND at my job. Seriously, my job is the most demeaning, boring, tedious work I've ever done in my LIFE. And I've had what, over a dozen jobs?
Eddy -
Today I had to go to HR because a complaint was issued against me.
"Someone saw you do something offensive somewhere at some time off campus outside of your work hours."
Wow. Vague much? And were they even sure it was you?
No that is not an exceptable complaint. I mean, that could be that you farted on the bus or were seen reading a book that they disliked. And off campus much less outside of your work hours? I cry BS.
It took me 90 minutes to drive 21 miles
