My ear keeps bleeding and I can't stop spending money. Maybe the bleeding is from my brain punching itself.

Last night we finally got motivated to tear out all the carpeting/padding. And toss a batch of leftover drywall. Added bonus, we are going to have to redo the drywall on the south wall since it got wet and has mildew and mold starting.
THEN I looked under the stairwell where there is a small closet. I thought it was raised up off the floor. Nope boxes of my stuff just SOAKED. So I lost about a dozen small books and various knickknacks. Luckily some was just paperwrapped crystal pieces (I use to collect glass figurines.) and those just needed to be wrapped in fresh paper.

By the end of the evening I was covered in carpet dripped water, exhausted, and since we had a fan going, thought I was getting chills.

Again, all that said, REALLY thankful that it wasn't worse.

Oh dear gods how I HATE HATE HATE being hot! Now that I live in a mild climate it just really drives it home how I can't stand feeling hot, especially when we get these unbearable desert heat waves here by the coast. Our house has no A/C so there's absolutely no place to hide. And the way the windows are designed, we can't buy a window unit.

Anastasia -- get a portable AC unit! They are about $300, but you can move them from room to room, and be cool just in the place where you are.

I've been thinking about it, but that's really a lot of money for us now that we're living in the most expensive place in the US. And then there's literally no place for us to put when it's not needed. Every nook and cranny in the house and the garage is packed. Sigh.

I'm going to reevaluate this because I can't sleep when it's hot, and I get such little sleep anyway, I can see this heat making me crazy......maybe I'll find some place to store it.....

My work website is STILL down. I can't get to anything for my consumer questions.
And last Thursday, DH had to take our home computer (just the tower) into the shop because we got some funky virus that just created a shortcut on the desktop and started running. (I don't open anything that I don't know.) The guys at the shop knew what it was and said it was a semi-easy fix, but still would need to be "cleaned".

Cody's Books in Berkeley has finally bit the dust. We used to walk over there, it was up the street from the co-op I lived in was.
If a bookstore is closing in Berkeley, that gets me really depressed.

I could cuss up a storm for a solid ten minutes right now. I am so fucking sick of finding out that everyone I know is having children, or in one case, more children. Christ on a cracker; it was cool catching back up with people through the myriad social networking sites, but it's been nonstop news of people sprogging in 2008. Fuckin' A.

Attention all agency people that my department works with!!!
If we send you information about the upcoming meeting and say "the van/shuttle will pick you up at the airport and bring you to the office" and after the meeting that the "van/shuttle will come to the office and to take you to the airport", then BLOODY WELL DO NOT RENT A CAR!!! The shuttle is a courtesy service from the hotel that we work with and if we have the same thing that happened Monday, happen again, they will NO LONGER continue to extend the courtesy. And any of those rentals show up on our bill...Heads WILL roll.

I sent a cd back to my ex exactly two weeks ago certified mail with return receit.

No one has come to claim the cd. There are 3 people living in house. Even if he wanted to be a jerk and not come and get it, at least one of his parents would pick it up.

I know that the cd will be returned to me if no one comes to claim it. But why wouldn't my ex want his cd back? I know I would want something that belongs to me...

It's all very strange.

Water Lily, I would just let it go. For your own well being and peace of mind, just write these people off.

If you don't want the CD, sell it or something.

My PAM is my stupid car. I had the engine knock sensor replaced BUT the check engine light won't go out. My mechanic told me to go to the dealership. The only dealership in the area is THE CRAPPIEST PLACE ever. I HATE them. Last time I took my car there they said it was fixed and oh yes they had test driven it. Oh, really? Because when I tried to drive it out of the lot it was not fixed - running on 3 cylindars and I barely made it back to the lot w/o it stalling out. Fuckers. This was on July 4th weekend and I was STUCK without a car for three damned days - AND I had a very, very sick cat who ended up in the ER that weekend - me with no car to drive - had to borrow a car.

Needless to say I hate these mechanics. I just tried to explain the problem to them on the phone - but of course, they know better than the retarded customer, she's telling me, oh no the light will stay off for 15 miles, and oh yes, "We ALWAYS test drive them." Oh, really. Always, huh?

My guess is that the visit will be in the $300 range and nothing will be solved after the visit. At this point, however, I have no real other option.

Oh, Gods. can't you go anywhere else for that? That's HORRID!

I am so cheesed off right now.. I cannot find my stupid PHONE!
Not my cell phone TG I have that! But it is the cordless land line phone that is missing.
I have turned this house upside down looking for it.
And it is no where.
Now who would steal a PHONE?
Its no good to them without the base, i.e charger.
So, I don't think anyone would be that dumb to steal it.
DH thinks I threw it out by mistake.
I think I would know if a phone fell in the garbage. I am not that deaf dumb or blind Not yet anyway!

Now my problem is what do I do?
Do I replace it? Or call AT&T and cancel my land line.
Does one really NEED a land line with cell phones as rampant as they are today?
I just don't know what to do!

Can you not call the number and follow the ringing?
Also most cordless phone bases have a page function.

My cordless phone base has a button on it that when pushed will cause the hand unit to beep. In fact, both of the last ones I've bought have that. Apparently it happens to everyone else a lot.

Our hot water tank just died...not repairable It's a long weekend coming up and we are going to try and install it ourselves

I'm probably looking a several days at the least before I can have a hot shower at home. Since we are not friends with anyone in the neighborhood that means showering at the gym (group showers) or showering in my bathing suit with a solar camp shower in the back yard, my neighbors will be appalled

We are installing an on demand heater and that means poor Dh will be spending days in the crawl space. So much for enjoying the long weekend and our trip to Hawaii is officially cancelled due to the unexpected expense.

The bright spot is that the water ran into the crawlspace and away from our double trimmed inlaid 50 yr old hardwood...thank Dog for small mercies!!

It does suck, I am dissappointed! It looks like we will be without hot water until next Wednesday. The shut off valve on the dead HW heater is faulty so the stupid thing is continuing to drain into the crawl space

Oh, and I just remembered our property taxes are due next month ARGHHHH! Yes this summer has started out just peachy.
