I would like to get a hand-held gaming system. It is going to be my treat for the Holidays. I have absolutely no idea which one to get.
I am completely and totally lost.
Also, if you know of a good forum that does discuss these different options, could you give me the link?
Thanks!!

I have a Nintendo DS that I absolutely *love* to pieces. The graphics are nice, the stylus is excellent and the games really appeal. I find it especially excellent when sitting for long periods traveling or getting tattooed. Those uses make the $130 price tag worth it a million times over. I think you have to consider what sort of games you like and certainly price. I know friends who have both the PSP and the Touch but I really don't know a thing about them. Good luck!
personally, being the techo-geek i am, i would get the DS as well. The PSP is nice, but i think the DS for a hand held system is better. I wouldnt even consider the IPod Touch as viable hand held gaming system. I have been debating on buying a hand held system myself, but if i do get one, it will be the DS
Thanks for the replies. I've been eying the Nintendo DS. It looks pretty darn cool!!
What is the 3 biggest differences between the DS and the PSP? Seeing I don't know anything about either one, I am wondering what people use when deciding what they like the best.
Again, thanks for your great responses!!
here is a youtube video that kinda gives a side by side comparison of features, games, etc etc.

breaking it down, processing power wise, the PSP hands down wins, screen wise they are pretty close, some pros some cons but on the whole, its pretty much a tie. Battery life, the DS wins out simply because it isnt a processing power hog. its graphics arnt as intense, and therefore doesnt need to crank out the power. control wise the PSP is more standard in the way it controls, Dpad and analog stick, lots of buttons etc. where as the DS has the touch screen etc. again this is a personal preference and the type of games you are going to want to play. controls can go either was as far as a winner goes. Load times the DS wins HANDS DOWN. the DS uses EEPROM cartidges which is similar to memory cards, where as the PSPs UMD drive is a lot slower. that being said, the DS carts can only hold a limited amount of data, like 128 megs i believe where as the UMD discs hold upwards of 2 gigs.
the other factor is price, PSP is about 169 i believe right now, and DS is around 129. they have some special packs where you can get the system and game etc, so would have to look at value there. games run about 20 - 30 bucks for the DS, higher for some of the bigger games like guitar hero etc, prices on games for the psp are roughly the same, though it seems there are more 30 - 40 dollar titles.
So it really boils down to the kind of games you want to play. If you are looking for more portability, longer better life, and fast load times, DS is the way to go. if you are looking for processing power, graphic intense, then PSP might be the way to go.
personally for me, portable gaming is more about battery life, entertainment value, etc. If i want intense graphics i will stick to my PC or PS3.

That's a great point. I finally got a Wii and I have a PS2, so at-home games give me the graphics.
At first I thought I only wanted the great graphics of the PSP, but now that I think about it, I guess I want more entertainment. I like the stylo of the N-DS, too. The N-DS sounds like the one for me!
Thanks for the great info Arkved and Bellis_Coldwine!
