Some of the others i can talk to, but its just general BS and then move on to the next person. I think i would look more forward to it if they were all gathered because they WANTED to be, not out of some sense of obligation. The vast majority of these people i see twice a year, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve. the other 363 days(364 if its leap year) out of the year i do not see, or hear from these people. Since i divorced my ex i almost feel like they look down on me some what because they think she was so great(granted they dont know everything that happened, i havent told my family that she was a lying, cheating piece of trash yet, waiting until the house is done being dealt with to drop that bomb).
OH Please sell that house soon, I can't wait for you to drop that bomb as well, LOL

We will get together next month. I am not looking forward to the drive.
We only go and spend 5 hours so it is not a big deal.
I never know what to buy for them, buy gift cards work just fine!

Not this year! Hehe, I made it loud and clear to DBF that when the end of my workday (Friday the 19th) rolled around, that was when our vacation would begin. This means no obligation to go anywhere or visit anyone nor to have anyone over. He loved the idea. I made it a point to visit with my folks and give the their pressies the 2nd weekend in December so that they know I won't be seen after that. So now here we are enjoying two glorious weeks off, with no obligation to go anywhere, and just loving it!
We don't normally spend the holidays with extended family, just my parents. I might be biased, but they are nice and (somewhat) normal. No drinking, no fights, no drama. We usually eat too much and laugh a lot.
I could have spent Christmas with my sister, but I chose not to. Not because of the weather, but because I just couldn't stand it. It was nice when my parents were alive, but they are gone now.
There's no one to spend it with now, but I'll keep myself busy on Christmas. I hope that the weather will be decent so that I can, at least, go on a bike ride. In the past, there were Christmases when it got up to 80 degrees and sunny. I would go on a bike ride that day and it would be nice. Much to my surprise, there were lots of other people riding bikes and they were more friendly than usuall.
